A lone Swallow was sat on the telegraph wires in fron of the Brewers Pride pub in Healy Road Ossett at )7:30 this morning looking  absolutel frozen and dejected almost on the same day it turned up there in 2019.Further up the Calder on Dewsbury Sewage Works there was 25 Swallows feeding around the sprinklers and keeping very low.Just 4 Sand Martins where amongst the Swallows.

Nearby on land surrounding the Kerry food factory complex at least 5 singing Willow Warblers and 3 singing Blackcaps though no sign of any Acrocephalus Warblers or local Whitethroats though surely they will arrive any day now.4 Chiff Chaff are in full song with at least one bird involved in nest building.2 Grey Lag Geese and 2 Shellduck are frequenting the River Calder around the Earlsheaton area and 2 pairs of Goosander are on the river around the bottom of Healy Road Ossett.
