There are two Cormorants building nests on the River Calder at the moment. The nest building is still in the early stages but this as been on going now for over a week. The nests are situated on private land so hopefully they will be left alone to complete their breeding.

Elsewhere in the valley the number of Teal at Dewsbury Sewage Works is down to around 55.There is still 5Goosanders on the river between Dewsbury and Ossett with just a single Goldeneye still present.

On Thornhill Wetlands reserve the feeding station is still busy with 12 Great Tits, around 10 Blue tits and both sexes of Great Spotted Woodpecker present this morning. Also Chaffinch and 2 Reed Buntings were on the seed feeders this morning.
