Its worth a visit
First Post Breeding Green Sandpipers return.
Looks like the Summer is over as the first small party of Green Sandpipers is found on the banks of the river Calder just below Mill Bank Thornhill opposite the local sewage works.2 birds(out of the 4 present) where in juvenile plumage.
Also on the swage works at Dewsbury today 17 Lapwings the first signs of a late Summer gathering and hopefully the first of many.Over half of these birds where in immature plumage signs possibly of a much needed good breeding season.
Otherwise fairly quiet but July is usualy an interesting time in my part of the Calder Valley as birds begin to build up towards their Autumn exodus to warmer climes.
