Yesterday morning again saw reasonable numbers of Hirrundines in our area though noticeably Swallows outnumbered House Martins to a very great extent.

On the sprinlers at Dewsbury Sewage works some 380 Hirrundines consisted of some 399+ Swallows with around 50 House Martins and just a handfull of Sand Martins.

Pied Wagtails were also present in good numbers with a count of some 67 birds on the sewage works as a whole with some 4 Grey Wagtails

It is again so notable this year the absence of Meadow Pipits from our patch with only a single bird recorded.

The first evidence of Teal for this autumn was of 12 birds on Dewsbury Sewage works. There is a flock of 68 Goldfinch feeding on the works.

There was just 3 Chiff Chaff on Kerries Reserve  yesterday.

Today an increase in Chiff Chaffs on Kerries with some 25 birds feeding near the border fence with an extremely dark bird recorded amongst them.

Also in the copse were 9 Blackbirds,2 Song Thrushes,6 Wrens 5 Dunnocks and 8 Long tailed Tits.On the filter beds this afternoon on the sewage works some44 Pied Wagtails but only 6 Swallows after yesterdays good numbers.
