Lapwings begin their late Summer gatherings

A party of 122 Lapwings is frequenting this part of the Calder Valley and was yesterday in the fields just below Saville Town by the new road bridge linking Saville Town to Earlsheaton.

A single Green Sandpiper is frequenting the river Calder just below Mill Bank Thornhill.

The first Common Snipe have arrived on Dewsbury Sewage Works.Three birds where there yesterday and hopefully there numbers will increase as they usualy do in late Summer/early Autumn at this site.

There is at least 9 Reed Warblers still feeding young on the sewage works though 4 pairs of Whitethroats have succesfuly reared their young to the fledgling stage with 8 youngsters seen yesterday.
