Large Gulls show sudden increase in this part of the Calder Valley

The larger Gulls that pass down the calder valley particulary in Spring have shown a noteable increase over the past week.

Whereas the numbers at the local sewage works have been fairly consistent with around 17 to 20 large gulls present amongst around 750 of the smaller Black Headed species over the past 3 months or so suddenly we find the larger Gulls building up to around the 100 mark

This consisited of around 85 Herring gulls the majority being first and second year birds along with some 15 to 17 Lesser Black Backed Gulls.

A single Green Sandpiper is on the riverbank near earlsheaton amd 3 Goosander,6 Goldeneye,24 Widgeon,a single Grey lag Goose,4 Canada Geese

8 Cormorant are on the saville Town area on the calder along with 24 Widgeon and 3 Little Grebes.
