Buzzards showing well in the valley while Swallows continue to show in the evening as they move steadily Westwards.

There was theree Common Buzzards over Millbank thornhill this morning.These first appeared around 09:45 hours with a single bird closely followed around 5 minutes later by 2 more. There is still 3 Chiff chaff in the copse just above the Kerries Foods car park with a single bird still hanging...

Jack Snipe on Dewsbury Sewage Works today.

A Jack Snipe was flushed from a path on Dewsbury Sewage Works today.Also 43 Common Snipe were all new birds with only single figure numbers seen in previouse days. Also over the Sewage works at Dewsbury 6 Common Buzzards plus a single bird calling from the copse adjacent to Kerries Foods...

Siskins in the Rectory Park this morning

What a differnce 24 hours makes.Today was a much clearer and windier day and it showed significantly in the bird numbers. Yesterdays House Martin passage was much reduced with around 500 birds moving Westerly this morning.Swallows were much reduced with only around 150 noted again moving...

There are now 142 Lapwings on Dewsbury sewage works.
1 little Ringed Plover on Dewsbury sewage Works.Also 2 Green Sandpiper and 2 Common Snipe. 3 new broods of Moorhen(making 7 broods this year)No sign of Cuckoos which appear to have moved on. 2 Oyster Catchers on filter beds.

4 Wigeon feeding on river bank near new road bridge on Dewsbury Sewage Works.A Green Sandpiper is on the river bank near Hotworks Mill.Otherwise as yesterday.Very few Pied Wagtails due to maintenance work being carried out on the Filter beds.2 Kingfishers on the calder between Healy Road and Hotworks Mill.6 Snipe on the Sewage works and a party of 6 Reed Buntings in the largest of the Phragmitese beds.A single Kestrel was hovering on the works.
Nearby on Kerries reserve.1 Chiff Chaff in the large hedge.2 Great spotted woodpeckers chasing each other in the central area and single male Sparrow Hawk from the willow plantation across the river.
